My open science goals are to empower researchers to collect, annotate, and share identifiable video data. I manage and support big data projects that address fundamental questions about learning and development. The aims are to facilitate behavioral science and data curation for improved quality, reproducibility, and reuse.
My empirical research investigates how exploration and attention develop and, in turn, drive perceptual learning. The ideas are inspired by a developmental systems approach, which emphasizes the study of change processes. I use novel methods, including remote and head-mounted eye tracking and computerized video annotation to study:
Multimodal exploration and attention in infants and toddlers
Coordination across perception and action systems
Opportunities for learning in natural environments
Developmental cascades across domains
